Windows 7 64 Bit Printer Drivers Server 2003
I have a windows 2003 standard 32 bit server. It is a domain controller and a file - print server. I have a list of all of my printers and the one i was testing says that is has windows 7 64 bit drivers from hp.com.
Our print server is 32-bit 2003. We have recently added a few 64-bit Windows7 computers to our network. I have not been able to install the 64-bit Win7 drivers to our print server.
The only options I am given when I try to add additional drivers to the print server my only available options are: Itanium Win XP & 2003 x64 Win XP & 2003 x86 Win2000, XP, 2003 X86 Win95, 98. X86 Win NT 4.0 I tried installing the Win7 64-bit drivers in the x64 WinXP & 2003 option, but that did not work. Right now my only option is to install the printer drivers directly on the Win7 computer and print directly to the printer. Has anyone been able to successfully add Win7 64-bit drivers to a 32-bit 2003 print server? If so how did you do it? You will have to add the printers manually on each computer via ip address and point to the downloaded drivers. Note that some hp printers like the 2600n/3600n dont have win7 drivers - you might have to try universal ones or vista ones.
It may work but you might find yourself getting a call as to why they are getting garbage text when they print - yeah, welcome to 64 on 32 bit world. The only option we had was to get an old server and load 08 64x on it and turn that into our print server. We still had issues with the non win7 support printers, but for the most part it works.and for both 32 and 64. Good luck - i hated the process. We have 2003 and 2008 servers at our site.
Sometime ago, I was tasked with installing both the 32-bit and 64-bit drivers since we recently started installing Windows 7 64-bit machines. It was not easy and very frustrating. If you have HP printers, go to their website and download the Universal Print Drivers (UPD), both 32-bit and 64-bit. Make sure to download the correct type such as PostScript, PCL5, or PCL6 AND the same version of the driver. Should you have Ricoh, Sharp, Xerox, etc.
Get Serial Number Computer Php on this page. Download BOTH the 32-bit and 64-bit drivers. The trick to installing is the make sure that you install the same version of the driver (e.g. Version 4.00.1. Hp 2710p Fingerprint Driver. 2) of the different architectures (32-bit and 64-bit). Then install the updated driver for the 32-bit, then install the 64-bit.
